Beware of the bed bug infestations at the Apache Motel Walt. Hopefully they have taken care of them. I'm bummed that the Rodeway Inn is charging +$100 for the weekend. I usually stay there at a cheap rate. I'm still debating whether or not to camp it out on Sat, but leaning heavily on camping. Current low in Moab is 34 degrees for Sat. night. I'll be down for another trail run Sat. &/or Sun.

Have stayed at the Apache a few times this past fall & this winter with no problems. Did the bed bug research 1st of course. Also learned that bed bug infestations happen @ high end hotels that are well cleaned also, not tied to a cleanliness, except for how they handle it after they are found.
bfewkwa, recommend doing fins & things Sun rather than Sat after Top O The World - you don't want to rush. Take your time and enjoy the scenery, get good pictures. But that's us, we like to take our time and enjoy: Rush to get there, or rush to get home, but relax and appreciate the trails.

I'd probably prefer to do Fins On Sun too. My kids are still young (8 & 5) and I'm afraid it would make for too long a day if we did both Sat......but since this is my first time out to Moab I'm only guessing.

Yeah I have a four year old, not sure if she is coming yet or not, but that would be really long day for them!! Figure it would take you an hour to get there from Top of The World and then another 2-3 hours on the trail!
It makes sense not to be rushed Saturday for all of us.

Very true Walt. Glad to hear that it is most likely taken care of. I think a lot of Moab motels had problems a few years back.
I'd like to throw out another trail recommendation for those seeking rewarding scenic vistas. Porcupine Rim is similar in difficulty as Top of the World and allows you another look of Castle Valley from the West side. I did this trail on Memorial Day weekend back in 2011 in a stock JK with some difficulty with snow and mud but the view at the top is also outstanding. I don't think too many 4x4's take this trail, however it is popular for Mtn. bikes also. I have no idea why seeing as the climb is mostly rock ledges. view from the top

I'm good for whatever trail (within reason) is decided upon. I'm close, and I'll be there many many many times and run most of the trails that I'm capable of multiple times.
We can also discuss Sat, which one to run on Sun

Well Jeep is packed up so I can hopefully head out afterwork. If I remember right there is a camp site right by Dewy Bridge where the trail head is. I will probably camp there if it looks decent, otherwise I will just setup across the road at the BLM camp ground. If any one else is coming stop by and say hi, I will be in the green Jeep with the weird camper top May get in a little late depending on how my day plays out.

To all who was there yesterday. We had a great time! Good to get out again, and meet some new enthusiasts. Glad to be able to have another place where off-roaders can get to know one another on the trail. Hope to see you all again and thank to coluke for setting this up!
