Rock Junction/21 Road
BFYTW, and I ran 21 Road today with the Grand Mesa Jeep Club during their Rock Junction event. 21 Road was a pretty nasty trail to say the least. The nice thing is there are multiple different lines to take depending on how difficult you want to make it and the majority the of trail is followed by dirt access road above the trail.
Today I woke up for 21 road, I didn't do much research, just heard it was a pretty tough but fun trail. I thought I would check it out on trail damage before we left, well to my surprise the trail was rated on the low end of 7 and 10 on the high end, this was going to be interesting.
I think the first thing we noticed when we arrived was every one else had their vehicle on a trailer, and most of them were tubed out running a minimum of 37s, on the small end... I think we got a couple funny looks at the staging area, one of the guys from Genright off road proceeded to ask me if that was my JK which was sitting there looking tiny compared to all the other rigs, I said it was and he then said you know this is a pretty tough trail and you will probably get a lot of body damage? He then proceeded to tell me what great body protection the make (sales pitch, but hey they do make some really nice stuff and their Jeeps were pretty nice!) another guy, a local, re-assured us that he has done this trail numerous times with 33s and we will be fine.
Needless to say I think we both did pretty good and held our own, we both got hung up/high centered a few times but we did the majority of the trail. The only other Jeep that wasn't trailered in only lasted about 20 minutes into the trail when he tore off a control arm bracket.
About 3/4's of the way through our trail leader broke his front drive shaft and we decided to follow him out while the big boys continued through the most difficult section.
The trail was difficult the whole way through, slow and technical, but it was a lot of fun!
Again didn't take enough pics, but I was way to busy driving on this one! Hopefully I can get a hold of some of the others.

Hey all. Sorry for my slow response. I had a great time running 21 road despite my first rock rash to paint on my rig. As Lucas has already indicated, he and I stuck together in the center of the pack due to us having the two smallest rigs in the group. I agree that we held our own and mostly came out with zero damage, and neither of us took the easy lines every time. In fact we did everything I would say wasn't totally extreme. Ground clearance def became our biggest issue as the trail went deeper. Thanks again Lucas for getting me unstuck. Enjoyed the day bro. For that are interested I added my 20 something pics to the smugmug above. I got some wicked shots of the gen right rig and one decent one of Lucas hi centered.

Hey all. One more thing. For everyone who didn't get to make the show and shine on Saturday I went ahead and just added all my photos from that as well to the file above. Tony Pellegrino put on a show for everyone, in the Gen Right KOH buggie, as he made numerous high speed passes with lucky passengers thru the rock pile course. It was a beautiful hot day and more fun than in past. This event is def growing in size. I didn't take pics of all the rigs out but enough to give u a taste. Enjoy
