KJ member from colorado springs
Hey, just another member from some of the jeep forums and Liberty forums here, from Colorado Springs. Right now I possess a fairly stockish KJ that will soon start seeing changes. Going to lift her a little and put some bigger rubber underneath. Known for taking lots of pics of places we go, and a licensed ham as well. Also know my way around a tool box pretty well I think, lol.

Welcome to cotrailruns, hope to see you out the trail soon!
We are doing a run this weekend that would be good for a stockish Liberty if your willing to make the drive.

Thanks for the invite but I've had a crazy few weeks with jury duty, so this weekend is going to be mindless lol. Main thing I have is skids right now, but will be lifting it next month I suspect. I also have the ability to run APRS, which allows to send and receive messages via radio as well as track and be tracked by others with APRS. I have a few FRS/GMRS radios handy as well. Hopefully by the end of the year I, or my wife and I can join in on something.

Welcome, Streetglideok! I'm up in the Denver area with a fairly modified JK. I might go on a run a little closer to us this weekend if you decide to change your mind!

Well got the lift somewhat done, need to do some more tweaks to it. Threw some Cooper STTs under her in 30x9.5 as well. I'll be working on a regear over the winter and adding at least one truetrac to the mix if not front and rear.

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to finally see it! I'm hoping to get some used Rubicon 4.10 Dana 44's from a guy for mine. Gotta get something to turn my 35's!

Well I fell into some luck, I found a like new front diff for a KJ in the gears I want for $100. UPS should have it to me on Monday. It'll go to storage for now, and later this winter after I recover from Christmas I'll get a truetrac for it and set it up. Just need the gears for the back end and a truetrac for it, and I'll be golden! You need someone to regear your axles, or you needing an upgrade as well?

Nice looking KJ! I have actually owned 2 myself (Gasser and a CRD) its amazing how well these do offroad! I would recommend a transmission cooler if your getting bigger tires. Maybe it was just a CRD issue but when I would be out on the trail seems like my transmission was always getting hot or overheating.
Seems like the new wranglers can have this issue as well.
A B&M tranny cooler is cheap and easy to install!

Does anyone know where I can score a 3.7 for a KJ for inexpensive and in good condition? New crate motor is about $4k. I own one of these as well and has a bad lower bearing. It's just a matter of time before it throws that piston rod...

I would check ebay, You might be able to get a good deal on a remanufactured short block as well if shop around. That or just pull the motor and take it to a machine shop.
You could probably take in the block to a machine shop and get all new bearings, piston rings ect for cheaper than other options. Unless you get a good deal on a used motor which can be a gamble.

I'd consider it, but it may be hard to hook up. Mine's a 6speed,lolcoluke wrote:Nice looking KJ! I have actually owned 2 myself (Gasser and a CRD) its amazing how well these do offroad! Yup, might not work so well on a manual!
